Acne and the Way You Live - Articles Surfing

People have associated acne, especially adult acne, with the way they live. Naturally, as adults, they think that acne is reserved only for teenage people going through puberty. Though it is true that adolescents make up most of the acne cases around the world, this does not mean that adults cannot suffer from this.

As an adult, one should know that acne can have a considerable impact physically and emotionally. Some people do lack self-esteem because they don't feel so good about themselves. With this, acne might even affect one's professional and social life. To make sure that an adult can abate the acne problem, it is best for her to make a preemptive strike before pimples start popping out of her face.

One preventive measure is to make sure you don't put anything on your face that is comedogenic, which can clog the pores. The reason why pimples occur is because pores are clogged with dirt and sebum. Comedogenic products, like certain makeup or hair products, may not cause pimples but may irritate the acne area. So be careful on what makes contact with your face. Certain oils can also be considered comedogenic.

Sleep can also do wonders on your skin. It has been found that having a good night's rest can make a difference on your skin, and may help put a stop to the acne problem. A well-rested body will have a better immune system.

Sleep may not have a considerable impact on reducing acne production, but it will help heal acne lesions much, much faster. This means pimples clear up quicker because your immune system will fight off the infection quicker and much more efficiently. It really doesn't matter what time you go to sleep. What's important is that you get enough of it.

There is also the matter of sun exposure. Some people think that exposing their skin to the sun will hide their acne or acne scars. Tanning isn't certainly the solution, and certainly not the cure. The skin does need sun exposure for vitamin D, but overexposure can leave the skin dry. And a dry skin may force itself to produce even more oil or sebum, which will eventually cause pimples. So sun block lotions are still necessary when out in the sun.

Some believe that acne is stress-related. You have probably complained that if you're stressed out, you experience breakouts. This connection does hold truth in it. When you're anxious, your adrenaline shoots up and produces more cortisol, which also makes sweat glands produce more oil. The oil overload plays a role in creating more acne.

So what can you do to avoid and treat acne? There is no cure for this condition, but it can be treated. There are ways to prevent acne from developing. Having a healthy lifestyle, which equates to having the right amount of sleep, exercise and good healthy food, can really make a difference. Taking care of your skin should not be taken lightly. Consult a dermatologist if you are taking acne and skin care seriously.
